Title: Program Officer,Wildlife (项目专员,物种)
Report to: Wildlife Trade Senior Program Manager
Location: Beijing
I. Major Function
Coordination of WWF Ivory Trade Project, in conjunction with policy consultant and relevant WWF/TRAFFIC national, regional and international programmes, offices, and partners.
II. Major Responsibilities
Work pro-actively to support policy advocacy to phase out China’s ivory market;
Work pro-actively to support advocacy on the Chinese government to demonstrate commitment to combating illegal ivory trade through improved legislation and policy and strengthened enforcement action to stop supply and market availability;
Work pro-actively to deliver well-researched campaigns aimed at reducing demand for ivory products, using targeted strategies and messaging to influence consumer behavior;
Work pro-actively to influence the business leaders in China (including those who gift ivory products, and those who transport them – such as courier/logistics companies) to become champions in eliminating demand for ivory products;
Help to further facilitate a united effort from partner NGOs and relevant coalitions;
Conduct any other duties related to ivory trade as identified by Wildlife Trade Programme Senior Manager.
III. Requirements
A university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. law, international relations, economics or public relations);
Over 2-year work experience relevant to international policy, political advocacy, environment/wildlife conservation and preferably business community exposure; 
Demonstrable personal and professional networks in government, academia and the business community;
Some understanding of CITES, UN Crime fora and other relevant international agreements, of inter-governmental agendas and to take briefs written by technical experts into the political arena;
Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a small team, with respect for and sensitivity to multi-cultural approaches;
Fluency in Chinese and English language, including Chinese and English writing skills;
Communications skills and experience in working with the media;
Familiarity with standard word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software, and with electronic communication technology.
